Absolutely Bonkers Pile of Kicks

Kicks. I love 'em, I gotta have 'em. My biggest problem in producing was finding kicks that were 'ready' for hardware like the Octatrack. Most samples I bought and tried were good, but didn't have the balls-crushing punch in them that I need to push through the mix. Not saying that these have it (they do), but I needed kicks that brought something else into the track.

So I created an automation chain to generate a stupid amount of different kick sounds, based on the ones that I had. Some tracks needed crunch and spice in the sound, some needed a very subtle punch and all these samples are results from experimenting with the automation.

In EDM, you'll usually want a very short kick, something like less than 1/8th note, so some of these will sound weird as-is as they have an effect tail that is usually trimmed off (the goal is to glue the kick tail to the next percussive beat), so you'll have to experiment yourself on your medium of choice (Octatrack, MC-707, Ableton Live etc).

There are folders divided into genres, sort of, as they're actually divided by the automation runs with different settings. But the contents are divided as

Ambient Techno Kicks
Soft, punchy kicks with an ambient tail in the style of the track "Waking Dream" by Araceae.

Dub Techno Kicks
Soft, short punches divided into dry and reverb versions.

Glitchy Kicks
Experimental (which usually means 'bad') kicks that have excess amount of character layered on top. First batch is the full-length samples, the variations are shorter, punchier kicks. For hard techno, maybe?

Muted Kicks
Soft, boxing punch kicks for general use.

Techno Kicks
Softly distorted techno kicks, similar to what you would find on tracks by Chlär (<3).

Should make a very good addition to your already-too-messy-and-big folder of kicks.
